NARA Training Weekend Recap

September 20-22, 2024

Racquet Club of Chicago

Dear Members of The North American Racquets Association,

The 2024 NARA  Amateur Training took place last weekend at The Racquet Club of Chicago. It was very exciting to see the many new names and faces of our Membership gather to advance their skills in our great game.

Former World Champion and Boston Racquets Professional, Neil Smith, was the Coach for the weekend and he reports of promising talent from this year's pool of players: Ally Fornegno (RCC), who returned to Racquets after a brief hiatus, was in good form and we look forward to seeing him in upcoming tournaments. We also welcomed special guest Max Seely (NY), who recently relocated from England and showcased his impressive skills, which were well received by all. Montreal was represented by Tom Price and David Marceau, both bringing great attitudes and boundless energy. Chicago was represented by Ally, Will Fix, and Lawson Buhl, all three were  extremely enthusiastic on court, and very gracious hosts. Boston sent Max White and John Eder, both relatively new to the game but eager to move up the rankings and participate in North American tournaments this season, including the Kendrick Cup. No doubt that these players will be in the mix in the years to come.

A massive 'Thank You' to Neil Smith for organizing a rigorous weekend (both on and off the court) filled with various drills, individual coaching sessions, and ample round robin play with coaching.

A 'Thank You' is also due to Mssrs. John Cashman and Conor Medlow for their invaluable assistance in organizing and hosting the event. We also extend our gratitude to the staff at the Chicago Racquet Club for making the participant's stay truly memorable.

Lastly, to the NARA Board and the entire NARA Membership for supporting and sponsoring this weekend, which has been a very positive addition to the North American  Racquets Calendar. It is with this initiative and support of the game that our sport will continue to have dedicated players for years to come.  Next up is the 'Under 35' Weekend, which will take place in Detroit from November 1st to 3rd. Stay tuned for more information, and ear-mark your calendar for another player-development-focused weekend filled with great times both on and off court.

PLAY!
